Linear notes

Due to format restrictions (you'll see), we weren't able to include all liner notes we had intended to use(?) for Wind (long eye), our tour cd-r. Sorry to everyone that's not immortalized in ink and is subjugated to having their name on the internet. So apologies accepted, this is how our real liner notes read:

Songs recorded at Death Valley. Engineering by Adrian and Marty. Except Fallen Apart--who knows.

Silent Way is: Adrian, Amanda, Drucker, and Marty. Erin played drums on 4-6.

Kamikaze Dan, Steve Yanick, Brick Mower, Bad Hug, RLC Radio, Julie, Diana, Ameilia ABC No Rio, Andy and Buck Doorbum, Foreign Objects, Matt, Spinach Florida, and Everyone who has put us up, booked us a show, or been inexplicably great to us, without fail--Thank You All.

1. Nothing to Keep
2. Pressed for Time
3. Adriansong
4. Convenient Outs (June Demo)
5. I Don't Want to Hold Your Hand (June Demo)
6. Sure Enough (June Demo)
7. Fallen Apart (Live from Providence, Rhode Island)
8. Finished (Live at Death Valley)

So there's that.
Yes, we haven't thrown Wound a release party yet but that's happening in late January. But the good news is you can get an early, special tour edition, with very cool, painstakingly crafted bonus album art, from us, while we're on tour (or not) starting on January 2nd.

More small news to follow.

UPDATES/TOUR/LP

Hey,

So perhaps the last update before we leave for tour so I'll try to include everything. Last weekend we played Lotus Fucker's record release show in Washington, D.C. Lotus Fucker's LP is a marvel of everything great about music, and if you haven't immersed yourself in the Fucker yet, do find them.
They are playing a show in New Brunswick on January 1st with Slave Scene, Nazi Dust, Pollution, Fleshtemple, and The Men. We then play January 2nd with them twice, and January 4th at the Terrordome in Phillly. Then a week later again, but these will be some of your last chances to experience them (outside of DC at least) until their massive summer tour with the Wankys, so don't fuck up!

Anyway, after being snowed in for hours and days, we made it back to Jersey and have been putting the semi-finishing touches on the LP Wound and CD-R Wind.

Regarding the latter: it's 3 new songs, 3 demo songs, and 2 live songs. For a variety of reasons, the artwork is nowhere near what it was officially supposed to be. The same is currently true of Wound. The main reason is a lack of time, however, and eventually we hope to have Wound the way we intended. Regardless, we will have those two releases plus t-shirts and 7"s for our winter tour.

Speaking of the tour, here is the pretty-much final run down of it:

Jan 2 NYC @ ABC NO RIO
Jan 2 BROOKLYN @ STOLEN SLEEVES COLLECTIVE (WE HOPE/THINK)
Jan 3 BOSTON/BINGHAMTON/CT? ? ?
Jan 4 PHILADELPHI @ THE TERRORDOME
Jan 5 RICHMOND @ THE TRIPLE
Jan 6 CHARLOTTE @ SNUG HARBOR
Jan 7 GREENVILLE, SC @ THE HANGER
Jan 8 JACKSONVILLE @ SHANTYTOWN PUB
Jan 9 SARASOTA, FL HOPEFULLY
Jan 10 GAINESVILLE @ WAYWARD COUNCIL
Jan 11 ATLANTA @ WONDERROOT
Jan 12 ASHEVILLE, NC @ STATIC AGE RECORDS
Jan 13 HARRISONBURG, VA @ THE BLUE NILE
Jan 14 WASHINGTON D.C. @ WMUC STUDIOS
Jan 15 BALTIMORE @ RUINTOWN
Jan 16 YORK, PA @ SKID ROW GARAGE

after that we have a bunch of local shows. Jan 28th in Brooklyn at Shea Stadium and 29th in New Brunswick (the latter will be our record release)

our March tour will take us to most likely the following places: NJ, Harrisonburg, Nashville, Lexington, Chicago, Columbus, and St. Louis among some other places. Our summer tour we will also know the general route of by the end of January.

That's all for now. If you have any inquiries of any sort, email us at silentwaynb AT gmail.com or shoot a message to our myspace which also features additional show info: www.myspace.com/silentwaynb

that's all!

Weekend In Revie

So we got back late last night from a 3-day weekend that took us to Philadelphia, Cambridge and Providence.

We felt like we played awesome Friday night to one of the best crowds we've ever had. Thank you to everyone in Philadelphia, especially for Dennis from The Terrordome for allowing us to get on the show last minute, and our good buddy/art supplier Diana Palermo for putting us up. We will be back at the same venue on January 4th with Backslider, Lotus Fucker, Brainkiller, Scapegoat and Nothing Is Over. It will be awesome.

Saturday night we played a show with some Boston hardcore bands. We had some technical issues and honestly didn't have our sound together, but still felt we played well. Our sincerest gratitude to Tom from Draize and his friend Kim for getting us the show.

Sunday we played a less than packed show at AS220 but made up for it. After hours of a mixture of window-shopping closed stores (what's going on Providence?), Egyptian Ratscrew and Adrian studying dutifully, we got to the venue way early and befriended our new best jailbait friends Thursday Night Anthem. We also played one of our best sets ever and want to thank our buddy Emily Shaw for coming out.
The show was also recorded and though the sound isn't perfect, it is pretty great, so we'll probably include a song or two on our 2010 Tour CD-R.

We have one show left this year: the Lotus Fucker record release on December 18th. (flier in post below). It's at St. Stephen's Church in DC!

...then we have winter tour (we should have the final route/list of stops up in a few weeks).

After winter tour we'll probably play a show or two with our friends Brickmower and spend most of February recording between 5-10 new songs which we'll release throughout the year.

Spring break tour, summer tour, break, second LP after that. Sound good? Sweet.

Update 11/16/2009

So this weekend we played two awesome shows. We played Saturday night with our good buddies Math The Band from Providence and Bang Bang Eche from New Zealand. It was the latter's last US date after a two-plus week US tour, and if you missed 'em, they aren't coming back to the states for a few months at least, so bummer for you. But we all agreed it was our best show, and thanks to the Glass Door in Brooklyn for hosting it.

Last night in New Brunswick we played with the best lineup that's ever graced my basement: Mirrors and Wires, Deathrats from Maryland, Foreign Objects from Mass and Dead Uncles from Connecticut. Needless to say every band was incredibly amazing and you should do everything you can to hear all of the music from the above bands.

Our next move is a three day weekend this upcoming weekend. Here are the details:

Friday 11.20 The Whitney House in Hartford, CT
Saturday 11.21 The Democracy Center in Cambridge, MA
Sunday 11.22 AS220 in Providence, RI

After that we are recording a Tour CD-R which will include some songs we've had written for a while and didn't formally release on Wound. We will have these on our winter tour. Our next show, however is December 18th at St. Stephen's Church in Washington, DC for Lotus Fucker's record release weekend. Here is the flier for it:

And then we go on tour starting January 1st. Not all of the dates are confirmed, but most are either being worked on or in the process. With that said, if you do want to help or are in a band that wants to play with us, get in touch with us (silentwaynb AT gmail DOT com). Here's our tour route for you:

1.2.10 NYC, NY @ ABC No Rio (w/Lotus Fucker, Atom Age, Crazy Spirit) *early show*

We play "the" hits.

We played our CMJ show last night. Sadly our slot was at 12am. Also, sadly, we didn't get to see our friends in Screaming Females or Bang Bang Eche play--as they also had 12am sets at other venues--but many thanks to everyone that came and saw us play too many songs. In better news, Silent Way will be playing with Bang Bang Eche and Math the Band in NYC at The Glass Door on November 14th. And... our next local show will be this Saturday (Oct. 24th) with Nimdok, Heavy Cream, and Natural Child.

In other news, Silent Way now has a proper touring vehicle. So long comfort of Drucker's Dad's Dodge Nitro, hello comfort of our very own Ford Econo-line.

That's all the news I have right now, updates coming soon.

The past and beyond.

We played a show with the very excellent Batrider this weekend. Mirrors and Wires and Under Anchor threw down great sets that night as well. People generally responded well to our set-list which is rather encouraging, since most of the songs will be on the upcoming LP. Response to Adrian, our drummer and newest member to the Silent Way line-up, has been generally positive as well. It was never going to be an easy undertaking, but thanks to all our friends that have been willing and able to fill out the roster for shows, touring, and recording these last few months.

The upcoming LP, Wound (rhymes with sound, not mooned), is currently being readied for duplication and we should be getting our hands on test pressings shortly. Our next project is to put together some songs for a tour cd-r to take up and down the east coast come January. We're also planning on trying to do a small run of the album on compacted diskette format, too--so be on the lookout for those releases at merch tables this winter and there after. Other than that, we're writing songs for future releases. More on those when those releases are more than ambition and wishes.

Our next performance this month is going to be in NYC at CMJ, the venue, Kenny's Castaways. We're going on in the champagne hours of Wednesday the 21st. Our time slot has been bumped forward a bit but since things are still changing, we don't have confirmed, specific times to give just yet... Also, champagne hour doesn't seem to have any real meaning, a quick Google search seemed to demonstrate champagne hours being anything between 9am and 1am--but I meant it as being pretty late in the evening. We'll get the times nailed down shortly, i promise. maybe.

Myspace is currently the only place to hear our songs online so we'll be cycling new songs in with some regularity. Also, it hosts current dates and the first draft of our next tour route. We'll post information there and migrate it over when it's less fluid.

WOUND and more

Hey just to give you a heads up on some things we are working on:

Wound is nearly complete. The mixing is being finished and it still needs to be mastered. We'll be releasing it in January and this will be the tracklist:

1. Convenient Outs
2. Love Letter
3. Fallen Apart
4. Lack Of Support
5. Sure Enough
6. Through You
7. Impression Management
8. Suspicious Activity
9. Riptide
10. I Don't Want To Hold Your Hand

the album was recorded on September 12/13 with Ryan D. Jones at Soulsville in New Brunswick. Our friend Diana Palermo is doing the artwork for the album.
It'll be put out by us with help from our friend Kamikaze Dan (whose band Lotus Fucker is the greatest band in the world).

We're also working on a tour CD-R that will feature some demos/outtakes and a few songs from our first demo re-recorded (this time with real gear and not in the middle of the night).

We're touring in November and January, check out the myspace for details.

More stuff coming soon. Keep an eye on the stars.
